PANDASIA Holds Third Annual Meeting in Thailand, June 4–6, 2025

PANDASIA, a European Union-supported project, held its third annual meeting in Chanthaburi, Thailand, from June 4–6, 2025, under the theme “Sharing Vision, Sharing Solutions.” The event reaffirmed the project’s commitment to strengthening public health literacy on zoonotic diseases in Southeast Asia. In the opening remarks, Dr. Hans Overgaard, PANDASIA’s Principal Investigator, emphasized the importance of unified perspectives and collaborative efforts to ensure health information is widely accessible.

In this meeting, two invited guest speakers, including Prof. Dr. David Hayman, the Professor of Infectious Disease Ecology from Massey University, and Prof. Dr. Serge Morand, the Research Director at the National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS), Kasetsart University, shared their shared perspectives on conducting research under the One Health approach. In addition, key representatives from Thai institutions, including the Chanthaburi Khao Soi Dao Wildlife Breeding Center, the Office of Natural Resources and Environment, and Rambhai Bani Rajabhat University, joined partners and stakeholders to review progress.

Across all PANDASIA research work packages, the team provided updates on fieldwork, progress in both laboratory and field analysis, the use of mathematical modeling to assess the risks of zoonotic disease spillover, as well as strategies for communication and project management. Additionally, the PANDASIA project is a collaboration involving leading institutions from Europe and Asia.
