PANDASIA Project Participates in the Asian Neglected Tropical Disease Conference 2025

The PANDASIA project, represented by the project principal investigator Dr. Hans J. Overgaard, and its research team, participated in the Asian Neglected Tropical Disease Conference 2025 (NTDASIA 2025), held on November 27–28, 2025, in Khon Kaen, Thailand. The conference was hosted by the Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University, under the theme “Translating Systems Thinking into Real-World Impact for SDG 2030.” The event was aimed at promoting the application of systems-based approaches to address neglected tropical diseases and to strengthen health security in Asia.

During the conference, Dr. Hans J. Overgaard delivered an oral presentation on upstream zoonotic spillover prevention, highlighting what is needed to prevent disease emergence at the source through integrated and systems-based approaches. In addition, the PANDASIA team displayed two poster presentations. The first poster presented the PANDASIA project’s community-based socio-ecological research to understand and prevent zoonotic disease spillover in Thailand and won a poster prize at the conference. The second poster highlighted the role of communication technologies in promoting One Health awareness in rural Thailand. These presentations showed that PANDASIA is dedicated to research focused on prevention, working with communities, and collaborating across different fields, which helps share knowledge and encourages discussions about lowering the risks of zoonotic diseases in Thailand and throughout Asia.
