Pandemic literacy and viral zoonotic

spillover risk at the frontline of disease emergence
in Southeast Asia to improve pandemic preparedness

PANDASIA is a collaborative EU project between universities and research organizations in Europe and Thailand with the aim of understanding pandemic literacy and viral
zoonotic spillover risk at the frontline of diseases emergence in Southeast Asia.

Zoonoses are an increasing threat to global health and Southeast Asia is presumed to be a disease hotspot. This region presents unique settings to study spillover, as local
communities are at high zoonotic risk due to high biodiversity, population movement, social practices, economic constraints and knowledge gaps. In the PANDASIA project,
scientists from a variety of disciplines will be developing health and literacy intervention strategies that reduce risk of future viral emergence.

Improvement of

pandemic preparedness

Since pandemics arise at a local level it is important to engage with local communities, environment and agriculture authorities in Thailand in order to improve their health and pandemic literacy. Therefore, PANDASIA will be closely embedded in local Thai communities
