PANDASIA Project Participates in the International Conference on Biodiversity and Wildlife 2025

The PANDASIA project participated in the international conference “Advancing Synergy in Biodiversity and Wildlife: Ecology, Health, and Human–Wildlife Conflict” (Biodiversity and Wildlife 2025), represented by its Principal Investigator, Dr. Hans J. Overgaard.  He was joined by the PANDASIA Work Package 2 (WP2) team led by Dr. Boripat Siriaroonrat from the Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, Mahidol University (MU), and Cora Knoblauch from the Leibniz Institute for Zoo and Wildlife Research (IZW) of Germany. The conference was organized through collaboration between the National Primate Research Center of Thailand (NPRCT), the Department of Biology, Faculty of Science, Chulalongkorn University, and the Faculty of Forestry, Kasetsart University. The event was held on 6–7 December 2025 at the Chongrak Prichanont Conference Room, Faculty of Forestry, Kasetsart University, Bangkok, Thailand

During the conference, Dr. Hans J. Overgaard delivered a keynote lecture entitled “Upstream Prevention of Zoonotic Spillover,” emphasizing upstream prevention of zoonotic spillover can possibly be achieved through integrated One Health approaches. He also highlighted the PANDASIA project as a transdisciplinary initiative linking research, surveillance, and community-based action to reduce zoonotic disease risks. This conference served as an important platform for the exchange of knowledge and experiences among academicians, experts, and conservation practitioners from around the world, with the aim of strengthening collaboration on issues related to humans, wildlife, and the environment.
