PANDASIA WP3 team, led by Prof. Dr. Chamsai Pientong, along with the invertebrate team led by Dr. Hans Overgaard, the PANDASIA’s principal investigator, embarked on a day field expedition from 13 to 23 August 2024 in Chanthaburi in Thailand. The WP3 team collected environmental DNA (eDNA) samples amidst heavy rains in temples, orchards, forests, villages, and a landfill in Pong Nam Ron and Soi Dao districts. Partner local public health agencies facilitated the collection of blood samples from 51 community residents, contributing valuable data to the study of viral spread. These activities highlighted the teams’ resilience, effective collaboration, and commitment to advancing scientific research under difficult conditions.
